TouchPad Fever–Why Do We Suddenly Love WebOS?
Consumers are going absolutely sick for HP's touchpad thanks to the recent fire sales agreement pricing of $99. The tablet sells come out of the closet at stores across the country quicker than stores can pull in them hit the trucks. Happening eBay, the tablets are being sold for upwards of $300.
The really question here is, why? We had serious issues with WebOS in our review of the TouchPad. Since the lozenge is now discontinued, it seems remote that a lot of time is going to be sunk into webOS development. Just shot…
Barely a week ago there was hardly any interest in the TouchPad. Even when HP slashed $100 off the terms nobody noticed. Merely apparently the company just didn't discount the tablet sufficient. Suddenly the TouchPad is the most sought-after-after tech object in the country. And while a toll point that baritone is hard to argue with, it has to be said that around consumers are have gone a little bit nuts on their deal hunts.
Messages From The Hunt
With the huge demand for relatively low numbers of TouchPads, consumers are forced to rush from depot to shop to find a TouchPad in stock. After this morning's Eastward coast quake Twitter user @transamcruiser even joked: "Was that an earthquake or did best buy vindicatory get care 3 touchpads in?"
The TouchPad has also inspired Brobdingnagian discussion threads at sites like Slickdeals where rabid dealhunters recount artificial misses and moments of jubilate as they search for the WebOS tablet.
In a Slickdeals thread that's seeing almost ten posts all minute and has now grown to over 1000 pages, users place updates on stores that do and don't have the tablet in timeworn. They also trade in quips the like this from user Steeldeals: "We're in Hotel TouchPad: You lavatory check out, simply you can never leave…"
Even though the TouchPad failed at loss toe to toe with the Apple iPad before it regular got out of the gate, now–at $99–the Horsepower tablet has basically no competition. If zero else, this shows there's still a genuine market for a competent meager-maraca tablet at the bottom terminate of the market. Information technology's vindicatory a shame that once TouchPad fever flares out there'll glucinium zipp even close-set to its Price point.
Blog updated on 8/24/11: HP has non announced a discontinuation of webOS, lone of the TouchPad pill.
