GTA Online publisher praises single-player as 50% of players solo Cayo Perico
GTA Online is wildly popular, but for some players that old single-player itch is acquiring tougher to ignore all day. Rockstar's decision to forgo single-player GTA 5 DLC in favor of non-stop updates for GTA Online has e'er been arguable, but story-driven content like the Cayo Perico holdup has managed to pretty effectively split the difference. A band of players are doing Cayo Perico solo, and it seems parent company Take-Two is happy near the single-musician possibilities.
"More than 50% of those playing the Cayo Perico heist are engaging with this as a new individualist-player experience," Take-Two revealed in its latest financial earnings call. CEO Straus Zelnick says the success of Cayo Perico as single-player self-complacent "wasn't coincidental", either.
"The folks at Rockstar Games intended to create a powerful single-histrion experience – a story-driven experience," Zelnick says. Atomic number 2 adds that information technology's "a reminder" that Rockstar can do some multiplayer and single-musician content at "the highest executable layer of execution in our business."
Zelnick says "I think on that point was an argument just a span years ago – non just about here, not in this shop, but in some of our competitors' offices – that single player is dead. That it's whol about multiplayer. We didn't believe that. I said specifically and publicly that we didn't conceive that. Our labels don't think that. We deliver an array of experiences that range from hyper-casual mobile to the most complex, robust single-player and multiplayer experiences, and we destine to continue doing that."
Rockstar's other too large charter on multiplayer games, Red Dead Online, is also getting to a greater extent unaccompanied self-complacent in the prospective, so it looks like Cayo Perico won't represent an isolated case. That should construct the waiting for the GTA 6 release go steady a little easier, at least.
